Later, take an awe inspiring floatplane back to Vancouver with stunning views of Victoria Harbour, the Gulf Islands and downtown Vancouver.
Join a professional naturalist this morning, onboard a boat as you search for marine animals including orcas, seals, and porpoises. and eagles, among others. The waters around Vancouver are renowned for attracting whales, offering an up to 90% success rate with sightings. Best of all, you’ll enjoy spectacular scenery set amidst the Gulf and San Juan Islands Later in the evening you are transferred to the transfer to Pacific Central Station to board VIA Rail’s ‘Canadian’ for the famous train journey to the majestic Canadian Rockies. Visit the Dome car where you will experience the true essence of travelling by train as a panoramic scene sweeps by.
Enjoy breakfast while surrounded by dramatic scenery as you follow the banks of the North Thompson River through the Monashee and Cariboo Mountains. Around lunch time the ‘Canadian’ begins its passage into the Canadian Rockies with views of snow-capped peaks, Pyramid Falls and the expansive glaciers of the Albreda Icefields. Pass by Mount Robson, which at 3954 metres is the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Arrive in Jasper at approximately 4.00 pm and transfer to your preferred hotel. Later, this evening take an exciting tour to experience the environs of Jasper for some amazing close-up photo opportunities of wildlife.
Paddle whitewater on the Athabasca river and ride Jasper’s Skytram today for the most scintillating day possible. You will be provided national park licensed guides, wet suits, life jackets, paddle jackets, neoprene booties. Wind pants, touques, neoprene mitts are available for those who might feel cold.
Travel via one of the most scenic highways in North America – the Icefields Parkway. Visit the Columbia Icefield that covers an area of nearly 125 sq mi (325 sq km) and reaches a depth of 1050 ft (320 m). take an exciting ride on the Ice Explorer on the Athabasca Glacier, then a stop at the award-winning Glacier Skywalk to experience a glass-floored observation platform 918 ft (280 m) over spectacular glacier-formed valleys and rushing waterfalls. Later, continue along the Icefield Parkway stopping at Bow & Peyto Lakes, the Crowfoot Glacier and the Athabasca Falls. Watch out for bears, elk, moose & mountain sheep enroute.
Surrounded by soaring mountain peaks, the majestic Victoria Glacier and a glistening emerald lake, the iconic Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise hotel is located in Alberta’s Banff National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Perhaps one of the most iconic settings for a hotel. Enjoy unbridled hiking, photography and walks in a stunning locale you will never forget.
Depart Lake Louise drive along the scenic Bow Valley to Banff. Tour through the town of Banff and its environs. Among the highlights are visits to the Hoodoos (shaped by centuries of wind), Surprise Corner, Sulphur Mountain and Tunnel Mountain Drive – which overlooks the splendour of Bow Valley. Later, enjoy a dip in the Sulphur springs- or go up Banff Gondola for surprising views.
